NOT LETTING AGE DEFINE MY LIFE OR STYLE

1st Blogiversary, 50th Birthday & 100th Post! | Links à la Mode

The bunting has been up for all of June, here at Vix Towers.  I've been able to enjoy some celebrations this past month, despite the sad news about my Dad's illness.  I've hit some incredible life and blog milestones over the last month, so here's a belated look back at them to enjoy some happy moments.

June kicked off with my 50th birthday celebrations!  Crikey, how the heck did I reach 50 so darn quickly?  I swear I was only 35 a few years back!  Tall Brown Fox whisked me off to Copenhagen for a week to celebrate my birthday.  A few years ago we went to Stockholm, which we both loved and I'd been eager to visit some of the other countries in the Scandinavian area and Copenhagen did not disappoint.  I wanted to go back to visit it, even before we'd left!

The night before my birthday we had tickets to see the ballet, 'Come Fly Away', at the Royal Danish Opera House - quite one of the most stunning and impressive arts building I have ever seen and been inside of.

All dressed up ready for a few pirouettes and arabesques!  The dancers, not mine.  Although I did a mean pirouette in my ballet days and I still do a fierce Arabesque but these days it's on the Reformer in the Pilates Studio, rather than in the ballet studio.

The next day, my actual birthday covered both ends of the cultural spectrum - high brow and low brow!

Excuse me for a moment.  *cough, cough*   *la, la, la, laaaaaaaaa*

Happy Birthday to me.
Happy Birthday to me.
Happy Birthday Petite Silver Vixen (you don't look a day over 35.....)
Happy Birthday to me!

Here I am being photobombed by a hippo in the beautiful Winter Garden of the Glyptotek Museum - now officially one of my favourite museums in the world.

If you're going to be photobombed, it might as well be by an ancient hippo!

The Glyptotek is a world class museum, and is only one of four museums in the world that house the complete collection of Degas' studies of horses, bathing women and ballet dances executed in bronze.

Degas is one of my favourite artists and I'm particularly fascinated by his sculptures and how he managed to capture movement so brilliantly in static 3D form.  What a delight it was to see and study this collection close up.

I couldn't resist doing my own interpretation of his world famous The Fourteen Year Old Dancer.  I knew I should've packed my tutu and ballet shoes!

After a morning amongst such treasures and a fantastic lunch in the museum's café, it was time to cross the road to the Tivoli Gardens.  And when I say cross the road, I mean, literally cross the road as the Tivoli Gardens is opposite the Glyptotek!

We had a fun filled, hairy scary, stomach churning, scream inducing, rib tickling afternoon running around like a pair of crazy kids going on as many rides as we could.  Tall Brown Fox won by miles as he went on all the REALLY scary rides - the BIG rollercoaster and the rides that went upside down, turned you inside out, threw you waaaaaaay up into the air, and then whirled you around at ridiculous breakneck speed.

What can I say?  He's a glutton for punishment, that chap!

I enjoyed myself immensely ramming him on the dodgems.

Braving the dizzy heights to go on the Ferris wheel.  And yup, for me, this is dizzy heights!

Now we are ONE

Back home from birthday celebrations, I hit my first birthday with the blog on 8th June.  Never in a million years, did I think I'd stick at blogging for a whole year!  I had no expectations when I started and like those rollercoasters in Tivoli, it's been one heck of a ride!

But I've learned so much from blogging - things I didn't think I'd learn.  Although at times I've almost chucked in the towel due to time pressures and family commitments and illness, I'm so proud that I've stuck at it.  I inhabit a tiny corner of the internet and I am but small fry in comparison to many bloggers out there, BUT that corner is mine nonetheless.  I've staked my claim and Petite Silver Vixen is still in business!

So please excuse a moment of pride as I look back over the past year from my very first post - A Pastel Palette -

to now, this my 100th post!

So thank you, dear reader for coming on this incredible journey with me.

Thank you to all the people who've popped by my blog, moysied through it or read it, commented, sent kind messages, encouraged me, supported me, cheered me from the sidelines.  I've met some extraordinary people and fellow bloggers along the way - including a few of my fellow bloggers in real life!

I'm not sure what the next few months will bring as my Dad's health deteriorates, but I plan to keep on beavering away at this blogging lark for as long as I can.  I've lots planned - including a blog revamp, so I hope you'll stick around and see my corner of the internet grow from being a tiny one to a less tiny one.

I'm not planning world blog domination just yet.

I've pencilled that one in for 2017!

I raise my glass to you and say...

And last week my How to Style Culottes 3 Ways was chosen in the weekly round up Links à la Mode, capping quite a month.  Thanks to Kim Toomey at Independent Fashion Bloggers for including my post.
